Reduced iron powder, gray or black powder, also known as “double absorbent”, can absorb moisture and oxygen in the air, and is often used for food preservation.
Reduced iron powder is generally produced by the reduction of triiron tetroxide in a hydrogen flow or a carbon monoxide flow under high heat conditions. The reduced iron powder itself is powdery and its microstructure is very loose, so its surface area is extremely large. It is often used as a high-quality reducing agent in chemical production and laboratory operations.
